Having taken singing lessons from a professional singer, and being an artist with a love of beautiful people, I can attest that Jessica Simpson is not beautiful and nor can she sing well. Her jaw-line is too masculine and her smile is too wide plus her eyes are dull. Her singing? I'm not surprised she had vocal problems because she has horrible technique. You're not supposed to sing out of your throat, you're supposed to blend the head voice (falceto), chest voice, and throat voice. If you haven't learned to do that, then you should only use the falceto voice because it won't ruin your vocal cords. When she sings high notes, she's much too shrill, it makes me cringe. Amy Lee doesn't use all the right techniques, but she uses enough that she sings beautifully as well as Enya and Loreena McKennitt. Now, when it comes to physical beauty? Liv Tyler, Charlize Theron, Angelina Jolie, Kate Beckinsale, Avril Lavigne, Hilary Duff, Ziyi Zhang are beautiful, to name a few. Jessica Simpson has big breasts, shows them off, and is blonde. That's why she's popular. She has no talent. I wish people could judge beauty for themselves instead of letting Hollywood tell them.

who ever alex is you are soooooooooooooooooo wrong. You are just jelouse that she can sing and that she has fans UNLIKE YOU! I am not a Jessica Simpson fan but I still think that she has a good voics and that she has made it big because of it and a few other things. You are saying things bout a person that you don't even know, how about you stop saying things about people you don't know and just get a life.

I have just sat here and watched this video all tense and expecting to witness something absoulutely fowl going on the pre-amble at the head of this post but, i must say, i think Jessica handled it quite well. To say she has been ill and told not to sing, she must have used a lot of skill and obvious training to get through the song in a fashion that is no doubt not the way she wanted too do it but, still quite commendable. I have heard a lot worse i can tell you. As a drummer in bands playing support to some of the oldie but goodie recording and touring bands of the 80's and early 90's, i have heard some great vocal performances. I have also heard some shockers, from singers older and more live performance hardenened than Jessica for example. The girl done good!!!!!... considering!

Alex, I suggest that you demand a refund from this "professional singer" (provided that what you say is actually true, because I personally think you just made all of that up to make it seem as though you have some upper hand in judgment due to these "credentials" you have) whom you've taken lessons from, because you're wrong on several points.

While Jessica does/did have a natural belting voice (this should be abundantly clear to all who've listened to her first two albums), it was marred by her unmitigated habit of closing her throat and grinding the vocal cords as she ascended in pitch. Now, I'm not sure if this is a technique that she was taught as a mode of vocal conservation or what, but the effects it brings are highly deleterious to one's vocal welfare. This technique she employed was what accounted for that uber-tight, constricted, borderline "constipated" tonal quality, and it has been the biggest complaint about her. The girl had amazing potential when she first emerged onto the scene, but since then it's been a downward spiral for her vocally. She did have an enormously powerful belting voice though...stronger than Christina Aguilera's (who can only achieve that freakishly loud affectation when she's employing full chest voice as well as her outer larynx muscles), because SHE never used 100% chest voice on her biggest notes; she'd blend resonance from the chest AND head spaces in a bid to create a uniform sound, albeit she still had a LOT of work to do with respect to bridging passaggio (which is the gap that exists between "chest" and "head" voice). Often times when she'd transition into a belted note in "mixed voice" from pure chest, there'd be a noticeable gap or break in the middle that would result in a very disjointed sound. You could hear it in that performance of "I Wanna Love You Forever"...the very last big note, which was in fact a mix, not "pure chest voice." and your claim that one is supposed to "blend falsetto" with chest and head voice is absolutely hilarious seeing as how the whole premise of a "falsetto" register is that it CAN'T be connected to the other primary vocal registers of chest and head voice. So you proved your ignorance right there. Give it a rest kid.
