Britney Spears is desperate to rekindle her friendship with Paris Hilton, according to a report.
The Toxic singer became close to Paris after splitting from Kevin Federline at the end of last year, and was spotted partying in Los Angeles with the Simple Life star on a number of different occasions. Britney eventually ended the friendship because she was worried about her antics were being perceived, but it now seems that she is regretting her decision.
A source told Life and Style Weekly magazine: "Britney is dying to hang out with Paris. She's trying to get her cell phone number and passing messages to her through other friends.
"Paris moved on a long time ago when it comes to Britney. She feels sorry for her, but that is as far as it goes!"

Sims was leaving a party at a private home in the Hollywood Hills when she was served by Aaron Cohen of IMS-Security. "Alli was really shocked and covered her face," an observer tells PEOPLE. "[She was] really distraught and said 'Oh my God.' "
Spears, who was also at the party, did not witness the serving of the papers, according to the observer.
The papers are a deposition subpoena sent by Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, compelling Sims to testify about Spears's parenting skills.
Sims, who has known Spears since childhood and is regularly at her side while partying in Los Angeles, recently told PEOPLE: "[Britney] is a wonderful mom and she is so hands-on. ... Britney loves those babies to death. And they adore her."
On Wednesday, Federline filed for primary custody of the couple's two sons, Sean Preston, 22 months, and Jayden James, 10 months.
A source close to Federline told PEOPLE recently that the would-be rapper has been worried about Spears's behavior and thinks she may be exposing the boys to "unnecessary risk."

A source who worked as Jessica's assistant at the time claims they had to replenish her Valtrex prescription - a treatment for genital herpes - on a regular basis, according to website L.A. Rag Mag.
Jeter has also dated Mariah Carey, Vanessa Minnillo and most recently Justin Timberlake's new girlfriend Jessica Biel.
Seventy per cent of herpes spreading is said to happen when there is no sign of infection, according to a US STD awareness campaign.

The Pirates of The Caribbean actress has replaced Kate Moss as the face of the brand and hasn’t wasted any time making the role her own.

She has signed a $1,000,000 deal to represent the company and admits that the perfume has come in very hand for her.
She says: “I like fresh and this one is quite clean. I need something clean – I don’t shower enough. My natural smell is rather musky.”

Paris Hilton is reportedly in talks to appear in the next series of Celebrity Big Brother.
The hotel heiress is rumoured to be negotiating with the programme's producers and will join the house “if the price is right”.
A Channel 4 source said: “Paris is keen to do the show because she wants to show people the real her.
"She wants to show the British public that there is more to her life than shopping and partying and she would certainly make an interesting housemate. It all depends on whether we can afford her."
The socialite reportedly turned down an offer to appear in the German version of the series in 2005 when her demand for a $5 million salary was refused.

“A girl who came to the party without her boyfriend had a good time, came home very late to a very upset boyfriend,” Hefner said. “And that’s the story behind the story … I’m sure that a rape did not occur. There’s no question about it.”
The complaint was filed last week by a 22-year-old woman who claimed she had been assaulted at Hefner’s sybaritic playhouse by a 17-year-old male. She said she may have been unconscious when the assault began.
But by week’s end, the woman told police she didn’t want to pursue the complaint, and investigators could not corroborate her charges.
