Showing off her fit, veggie-powered body, sexy Alicia Silverstone goes au naturel in a brand-new TV ad campaign promoting the health benefits of vegetarianism. The ad will make its national debut this week in Houston and Dallas--cities chosen because they repeatedly rank among the least healthy in the country.
"I'm Alicia Silverstone, and I'm a vegetarian," Silverstone says as she emerges from a swimming pool--revealing how "going veg" does a body good. "There's nothing in the world that's changed me as much as this. I feel so much better and have so much more energy."
The 30-second ad will air more than two dozen times in Houston and Dallas on the Food Network, Lifetime, and E! through the end of the week. It was directed by Dave Meyers, who has directed more than 180 music videos, including rapper Missy Elliott's groundbreaking "Work It" video, for which he won MTV's Best Video of the Year award. Meyers also directed Elliott's Grammy Award-winning video "Lose Control."
Silverstone--who also refuses to wear leather and wool for ethical reasons--says, "Like most people, I wasn't always a vegetarian, but I've always loved animals. ... Physically, the effect has been amazing. Once I went vegan, I lost the weight I wanted to lose, my nails were stronger, and my skin was glowing. I feel great!"
The ad is part of a new series of PETA vegetarian testimonials that star a growing list of celebrities, including actors Forest Whitaker, Casey Affleck, and James Cromwell and singer Joss Stone.
