Britney Spears' visitation rights to see her two sons have been temporarily suspended after she was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital for mental evaluation. The 26-year-old was taken to the city's Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Thursday (03Jan08) night following a stand-off with police at her Beverly Hills mansion when she refused to hand over her boys to ex-husband Kevin Federline after a scheduled visit.
Britney Spears is now being held at the hospital under Section 5150, meaning medics have reason to believe she is a danger to herself or others. On Friday (04Jan08), a judge awarded Federline "sole legal custody and sole physical custody" of Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, at an emergency hearing. The custody order lasts until 14 January (08). Following the 40-minute hearing, Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan said, "There are no winners here... (I'm) not happy about any of the events that have happened."
Meanwhile, Spears' mother Lynne has asked her daughter's fans to "just say prayers" for the troubled star.

The former Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari marked the rite of passage at Luxor's LAX nightclub, where she danced to Soulja Boy and hung with friends.
"My first official drink was Grey Goose and soda," she said. "It's really exciting. I can go to the clubs and not worry about anything."
She was joined by fellow Laguna Beach alum Alex Murrel, and spent the night chatting up former flame Matt Leinart, who coincidentally was seated at an adjacent table in the VIP section.
Following her dinner at Company American Bistro, Cavallari's highlight was easily the sparkling birthday cake that was brought out for her.
Saturday night capped the weekend-long celebration for the onetime Lauren Conrad rival. As soon as the clock struck midnight Saturday, the newly single Cavallari (she recently broke up with Nick Zano) headed to Pure Nightclub to take in the sights.
And what about the guys? Cavallari wouldn't reveal details on her love life, only saying that she is dating "and having fun."

Controversial Lindsay obviously cures her addiction to alcohol with sex because, apart from the show-off Italian, she was recently seen seducing three guys in one day.
The Roman stated that problematic LiLo invited him to dinner and she asked him kiss from her. Eventually she brought him to her hotel room.

Television show psychologist 'Dr Phil' McGraw said Spears was released from a hospital Saturday but still needs psychological help, the syndicated programs Entertainment Tonight and The Insider reported in a press release.
Spears, who left the hospital after doctors decided she was no longer a danger to herself, was reportedly accompanied by Dr Phil as she left hospital.
"I find it very sad, very disturbing" said longtime Entertainment Tonight co-host Mary Hart, who also hosted the Palm Springs gala. "I really feel that if she can get away, would get away, it would be the best thing for her. She needs help, obviously."
"I don't know Britney at all," replied Hairspray actress Amanda Bynes. "All I know is that I'm a big fan of her music, and I think that this business just does weird things to people, and I think that it's sad. I just hope she figures out what's going on and gets better."
Juno actress Ellen Page commented, "I feel bad, you know, because everyone kind of judges her and splatters her business everywhere. No one goes, 'Why is this happening?' They just judge and judge and judge. It's too bad."

"Yes, she's expecting," Black said at a Beverly Hills hotel during a press day for his latest project, "Be Kind Rewind," People magazine reported Saturday on its Web site.
He declined to offer more details.
Black and Haden, a cellist and the daughter of jazz great Charlie Haden, were married in 2006. They have a 1 1/2-year-old son.
Black said he employs a "day-by-day" strategy to parenting.

Kerry Katona has been branded a bad parent by her mother-in-law Marilyn Croft.
As previously reported, Katona rowed with the mother of her husband Mark at a New Year party which was held at her home.
Marilyn has claimed that Kerry, who is currently five months pregnant, reacted in fury when she complained about guests who were smoking over her 11-month-old granddaughter Heidi.
"I have to speak out. Kerry is five months' pregnant with my new grandchild - yet she was roaring drunk on vodka and smoking like a chimney," Marilyn told the News of the World. "Heidi was still up at midnight being passed around like a parcel in a smoke-filled room when she should have been in bed. But like everyone in Kerry's life, Heidi is just a prop for her celebrity."
The heated scenes were caught on camera for Kerry's new reality series, but Marilyn has suggested that they will never be aired because the footage would be too damaging to her daughter-in-law's career.
"I bet that she makes sure this footage never gets aired because it will prove that I did nothing wrong," Marilyn said. "Her behaviour beggers belief. She is five months pregnant. She almost suffered a miscarriage early on in this current pregnancy.
"What's the betting the baby is born early or with complications because of Kerry's irresponsibility? No doubt that will give her another magazine cover - and she can tell the whole sorry story."

Page Six has heard from extremely well-placed sources that the Oscar-winning Aussie - who's suffered miscarriages in the past - not only has a bun in the oven but is so concerned about the welfare of her unborn child that she's taking a break from her film career and has dropped out of director Stephen Daldry's post-World War II Germany drama "The Reader," which she was supposed to start shooting this month.
The movie is based on Bernhard Schlink's prize-wining book about a man who carries a longtime sexual obsession for an older woman who's later prosecuted for war crimes after it emerges she was a member of the SS and a guard at Auschwitz. But the Weinstein Company, which is producing, will now have to get another leading lady to join Ralph Fiennes and Bruno Ganz and a largely German cast, our sources said.
Kidman's rep, Catherine Olim, didn't return our calls or e-mail. Weinstein flack Matthew Frankel said: "I am being told that the status on 'The Reader' has not changed." He declined to be more specific.
