The 1980s action hero has once again blasted Rambo III, but insists he's revitalised the franchise with the movie he's most proud of making in his 40-year Hollywood career.
Stallone credits his improved work with going back to basics on the latest Rambo movie, blaming much of Rambo III's shortcomings on the extravagant action sequences.
He says, "Now I think, 'What a crock of crap that (Rambo III) was.' Most people like the first one, which was a lot simpler.
"So I learned from that and the new Rambo is more like that. This is the best movie I have ever done and it meant the most to me so far."

Spanish actress Penelope Cruz has teamed up with Ben Kingsley in a new movie titled 'Elergy', which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival over the weekend.
The romantic tale follows a charismatic and selfish professor who loses his composure when he falls in love with a student half his age.
The film deals with universal themes of love, death and illness and portrays beauty as a burden as well as a blessing.
33 year old Cruz was questioned over her role and asked if she had to work harder as an actress after speculation she was cast due to her looks.
'I don't think about my career in those terms, I have been looking at that from the beginning since I was seventeen years old, and I have been very lucky, very privileged and very grateful for all the great roles that they have given me from the beginning, some better than others.'
The movie is directed by Spain's Isabel Coixet and is set for release later this year.

Paris Hilton's new movie is a box office flop.
'The Hottie and the Nottie' was given a limited released in the US at the weekend and grossed just $9,000 - an average of $76 dollars per showing.
It was also panned by reviewers, with one Los Angeles newspaper calling it "a blot on even Paris Hilton's dignity".
The romantic comedy, originally set to be released straight to DVD, follows the exploits of a man desperate to woo Paris' character but must first find a boyfriend for Paris' ugly best friend.
Paris, who went on a lengthy promotional tour of the US to publicise the film, is believed to be devastated by the poor audience numbers.
A source close to the star said: "After her attempts at being a pop star failed, she really wanted to be a proper actress.
"It's hard to see how any studio or director will touch her after this."

Mel Gibson stands accused of fraud, breach of contract and unfair business practices in a lawsuit filed by the co-screenwriter of his religious epic The Passion of the Christ.
Benedict Fitzgerald accuses Gibson, who directed the controversial 2004 film, of engaging in a "chronic and conspiratorial pattern of deceit" by telling the writer he was working on a project with a budget of between $4 million and $7 million.
Fitzgerald claims he was only paid $75,000 and that he had to borrow $200,000 from Gibson to cover expenses, reports People.com.
The Passion of the Christ went on to gross an estimated $600 million worldwide.
The lawsuit, filed on Monday, reads: "Gibson preyed monetarily on Ben, taking advantage of his unbridled enthusiasm for the project and with full cognizance of Ben's fundamental personal and spiritual beliefs."

Sienna Miller at the 2008 BAFTAs in London
Sienna Miller has claimed she felt "hunted" by photographers who chased her home from a nightclub after last year's BAFTA Awards.
The actress told West London Magistrates' Court she was concerned that snappers wanted to find her new address so they could camp outside the property 24/7.
She was testifying at the trial of Bryan Ferry's son Otis, who is accused of preventing paparazzi taking pictures of her as they left a post-BAFTAs party at a London club last February.
He has admitted grabbing the keys from two of the photographers' cars and throwing them to the ground. However, he denies two charges of criminal damage in connection with the incident.
Ferry, of Shrewsbury, earlier told the court that paparazzi drove like "lunatics" while pursuing Miller.
The 25-year-old said he and brother Isaac had started to follow her home in Isaac's Land Rover but had been blocked by photographers.
He told the court: "It then became very clear that there were quite a few vehicles and they were absolutely stopping at nothing to get after us. These cars were driving at us incredibly aggressively, initially trying to get between Isaac's car and Sienna's car."
He said the paparazzi's behaviour had been frightening, adding: "It was like dodgems driving."
