... she arrested for shoplifting
Bai Ling was arrested Wednesday after allegedly shoplifting two celebrity magazines and two packets of batteries at Los Angeles International Airport.
The items had a total value of $16, said Sgt. Jim Holcomb of the airport’s police department.
The 41-year-old actress was detained by a store employee who summoned police, Holcomb said. She was booked for investigation of misdemeanor shoplifting and released after agreeing to appear in court on March 5.
An e-mail message seeking comment sent to Ling’s agent on Thursday was not immediately returned.
The day of her arrest, she posted a message on her blog with a photo of herself at the airport waiting for a delayed flight. She made no mention of her arrest, instead wondering whether people were “rushing in the cold wind to work” after the Chinese New Year.
“Life is a sad song sometime but still sings the beauty for their loved ones,” she wrote.

Natalie Portman has decided to combine fashion and ecology in the design of her new shoe line. She teamed up with footwear brand Te Casan to create her new line of vegan footwear.
Natalie, who has been a vegetarian since she was 8, said:
"It is a decision I made because of my love for animals, but it is also much better for the environment. It is very difficult to find non-leather shoes that are beautiful and comfortable. The Te Casan design team helped me sketch my ideas, from which I chose materials and colors. I love them all! The strappy heels with the accordion back in gold and red are personal favorites, though."
The shoes are all non-leather and free from any animal products. And all proceeds go straight into The Nature Conservancy’s pocket.

Hollywood superstar Al Pacino is set to star in the next Bond movie, according to recent reports.
An article in the Mirror states that the Godfather actor will make a guest appearance as a bad guy in the upcoming Quantum Of Solace movie.
The newspaper quotes a source as saying that the 67-year-old actor will play the head of the international terrorist group introduced in Casino Royal.
"It's not a major role but it's an extremely important one. It will be a brief on-screen appearance," they continued.
"It will be fabulous to see him square up against Bond."
It is believed that the actor, will begin filming his cameo in April.

Scarlett Johansson played her debut album, 'Anywhere I Lay My Head', to journalists at a listening party in New York yesterday.
Billboard reports that the launch took place at Joe's Pub in the city.
'Anywhere I Lay My Head' features 10 covers of Tom Waits songs and one original track, 'Song for Jo'; it will be released on 20 May.
Johansson said that she had originally planned to record an album of standards but then decided to celebrate Waits' material.
"His melodies are so beautiful and his voice is so distinct," she said.
Johansson said that her interpretations of the music legend's songs have met with his approval.
"I sent him some of the early, early recordings, and he said, 'Go ahead'. I've heard he's very pleased," said the star.
While Johansson has no plans at present to do live shows, she said the idea of possibly doing a festival date with the musicians who worked on the album would be intriguing.

Nelly Furtado is reportedly pregnant with her second child.
The 'Maneater' singer is said to be thrilled after learning she is expecting a baby with her sound engineer fiancé Demacio Castellon, but is trying to keep it a secret.
A source close to the singer told America's Star magazine: "She's not very far along yet, so she's trying to keep the pregnancy under wraps."
However, a representative for Nelly - who already has a four-year-old daughter with ex-partner DJ Jasper Gahunia - insisted: "She is not pregnant."

Jackass star Johnny Knoxville has been injured while filming a tribute to Evel Knievel for MTV. The special, under the over-seeing eye of freestyle God Travis Pastrana, is due to be aired around February 23 - and will most likely include the accident that left Knoxville bleeding heavily from his nads after trying a backflip on a motocross bike.

“Just got back from Oklahoma where I was shooting 'Mat Hoffman's tribute to Evel Knievel.' Had a ball, too, even though I almost lost my own balls in the process. Don't want to give too much away because the tribute airs Feb 23rd on MTV, but let's just say before letting Travis Pastrana teach me how to do a backflip on a motorcycle I should have had him teach me to ride one first. Heh-heh… Bad for me, good for our viewing audience at home. Have to go now. Have to empty the p*** bag on my leg that I have to wear for the next two weeks until my torn urethra heals. Harry Potter star Emma Watson has laughed off rumours she is dating rocker Johnny Borrell after the pair were spotted leaving a star-studded party together.
The actress - who plays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise - was linked to the Razorlight frontman after the pair posed for photographers outside the Vanity Fair and Burberry Portraits party at the National Gallery in London on Monday (11Feb08).
Subsequently, the 17-year-old was spotted sharing a cab with the British rocker, 27, to another fashion party thrown by designers PPQ.
However, the rising star is shocked by the assumptions, and jokes she should create new romance rumours by getting snapped with other famous men - namely Orlando Bloom.
Writing on her official website's blog, the actress says: "I met Johnny Borrell who is modeling for Burberry at the moment and went on to PPQ in the same cab.
"I'd never met him before so that was great as I'm a big Razorlight fan. But goodness, I am really going to have to watch who I stand next to from now on! "Maybe I should stand next to Orlando Bloom and then we can be said to be dating."
