After expressing an initial wish to steer clear of the subject of Heath Ledger, to whom she had been linked, Australian model Gemma Ward is now speaking out about him.
"I think he operated from the heart. He really, really knew that if he was going to make a decision to be in a film, then he needed to be really committed to it," Ward, 20, tells Australia's Sydney Morning Herald.
"He wasn't afraid to fight with people involved, he wasn't afraid to perhaps piss people off," she said of Ledger, 28.
Ledger also gave advice to Ward, who has a budding career as an actress and stars in the upcoming film The Black Balloon. "He told me to always be a punk and 'stand up for yourself'."

The sexy singer admits she loves to show off her curvy derriere in tight-fitting clothes because it drives men wild.
She said: "I absolutely love my bum, and I keep working at it because I want it to be perfect. It makes my clothes look good, and guys like it!"
Although she is proud of her rear, Rihanna hates her legs because she thinks they are too bulky.
She added: "I really don't like my legs, I'm very insecure about them. Everyone wants to have slim, perfectly-toned legs and I'm no different. I do weights as part of my fitness regime but I don't want my legs to bulk up so I do a lot of cardio to balance everything out."
Rihanna, 20, has also confessed she hasn't ruled out having cosmetic surgery in the future if certain parts of her body start to "drop".
She said: "If my breasts started to drop, I might not like that. So I would consider every option. But for the next 20 to 25 years, I'm going to stay as natural as possible."

Jamie Lynn Spears is believed to be having a baby boy as she and her sister Britney Spears were spotted out buying blue baby clothes.
The 16-year-old purchased blue organic blankets, towels and pajamas at the high end baby boutique Petit Tresor.
Britney claimed the clothes were for her two sons but sources say the items were two small for her boys.
“Britney originally said the items were for herself,” said an insider. “None of the items could have been mistaken for being purchased for the two kids Britney already has.”

Eric O'Hara, a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, died a month after his discharge from the Army after falling off of an icy roof.
O'Hara was working at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel Thursday, helping to remove snow from the resort's roof. According to the Rocky Mountain News, he had just released a safety clip he was attached to so he could move along the roof when a piece of ice broke loose and he slid down the sloped roof and fell over the edge.
Heidi's father Bill married O'Hara's mother Terri.
In statement to TMZ, Heidi says, "Losing my brother, at an early age is such a tragedy. I just loved him more than anything. He was just so patriotic. He really wanted to go to and help and do all that he could for his country. He felt like it was his duty. I'll really miss him."

Kate's brother Oliver also denied the rumors that she's possibly carrying her ex-husband Chris Robinson's and/or Owen Wilson's baby. Extra reports:
Kate’s brother Oliver caught up with "Extra" at the World Poker Tour International and revealed that the rumors simply aren't true, insisting there's no baby on the way.
“I will squash that right now," he told "Extra."
"She is absolutely 100% not pregnant.”

Iglesias, whose famous singing father Julio is 64, has told The Associated Press in a phone interview from Miami that he can't see himself performing at his father's age.
"I'm not sure I want to be up on a stage when I'm 64 or 65," he said.
"In my father's case, I think he's going to die onstage and I respect that very much. In my case, in 15 years I'll probably look ridiculous singing 'Bailamos (Let's Dance)'."
The 32-year-old, whose greatest hits album '95/08' comes out later this month, explained that his desire to evolve as an artist drives him to continue at this point in his career.
"When I listen to my music I think it can still continue to evolve," Iglesias said.
"After a couple of months go by, I think I could write a better song... One you listen to 10, 15, 20 years from now and say, 'Oh! I wouldn't change a thing.' "
However, Iglesias stops short of confirming his retirement date, saying just that he wants to "retire in the next 15 years".
"But that's what I say now. Who knows if I'll have the courage to do it when the day comes."

Robert James Ritchie, better known as the musician Kid Rock, was not present for the plea. His attorney, Darryl Cohen, waived an arraignment hearing and entered the plea on Ritchie's behalf in DeKalb County State Court, according to Cohen's office.
Ritchie and five members of his entourage were arrested October 21st on a misdemeanor charge of simple battery. The charges stem from a fight at a a metro-Atlanta Waffle House, where they had stopped following his performance at The Tabernacle.
Officials say a fight broke out after another customer recognized a woman in Kid Rock's party and exchanged words with her, prompting Ritchie to exchange words, too.

Amy Winehouse troubles seem to be never-ending – the singer has now been diagnosed with a contagious, itchy skin disease.
The star, who has recently been pictured with painful-looking lumps on her face, has picked up impetigo – a highly-contagious bacterial infection that causes a blistering and an itchy rash.
A statement from Amy's rep confirms: 'Amy has been diagnosed with impetigo, which she has been told can be highly contagious. Because of that she has been put on antibiotics and may have to stay home alone for the next few days.'
But, friends tell People magazine, Winehouse won't let it get her down.
One revealed: 'She's fine. She's not hiding away. She's never been one to care what people think.'

Kate Beckinsale tells Allure magazine, "My best feature is unfortunately a private matter, although I'm told it is spectacular. But you can't really walk it down the red carpet. What can I say?"
The Brit also hits out at her reputation for being a "slut", which started when she left ex-partner Michael Sheen for current husband Len Wiseman. She adds, "I was called a slut when I split up with Michael and began seeing Len, but I've only ever had about three boyfriends. Only a handful of people have seen into the Pharaoh's Tomb!"
