Scarlett Johansson's acting has won her many plaudits, but now the ambitious star has stepped behind the camera to maker her directorial debut.
The 23-year-old, who has long been the muse of acclaimed film maker Woody Allen, was spotted filming a five minute short starring Kevin Bacon on the streets of Brooklyn yesterday.
She is one of twelve directors, including Scrubs star Zach Braff, who are collaborating on a film anthology called "New York, I Love You."

Singer Ashlee Simpson has confessed an operation to change the shape of her nose has not made her any prettier.
The 23-year-old insists she hated her image before undergoing a rhinoplasty operation to correct her misshapen nose in 2006.
But Simpson admits the surgery has not improved her looks.
She tells Us magazine, "(Plastic surgery) is something that everybody should think about for a really long time. Once you know it's something you really feel comfortable with, then to each their own.
"I was never really unhappy with how I looked, (and) I don't think I am more beautiful than I was (before). I just see the same old goofy girl I see every day."

The 'Pearl Harbor' actress - who is regularly voted one of the most beautiful women in the world - claims she was unattractive in her teenage years and hasn't managed to shed her insecurities.
She said: "I was monumentally ugly until I was about 15 so I still have that mindset."
This is not the first time Kate has spoken out about her looks.
The 'Underworld' star - who is married to director Len Wiseman - says she was so concerned about her attractiveness while growing up, she convinced herself no boy would ever be interested in her.
She added: "I grew up feeling and looking like an ugly duckling and that was such a huge part of my self-image. I could not even accept boys paying me attention."
Even though, Kate - who has a nine-year-old daughter, Lily, from a previous relationship - has blossomed into a beautiful woman, she sometimes feels so unattractive she won't leave the house.
She said: "I have days when I feel great, and days when my a** won't fit in my jeans and I don't leave the house."

Britney Spears has reportedly been offered a staggering $4 million to perform just one song - to a group of rich sheikhs in Dubai. The troubled singer - who's currently on a $1,500 -per-week debit card allowance following her public meltdown - has been approached by Pakistani Sheeraz Hasan, founder of celebrity website hollywood.tv, to perform her raunchy tune I'm A Slave 4 U to an elite audience in the Middle East. The one-song performance would net her $4 million - as well as luxury accommodation on her own private island for the duration of her trip, reports British newspaper the Daily Star.
Hasan claims he's already secured a deal with hotel heiress Paris Hilton to visit the Arabs - and Spears is his next target. He says, "I'm going to take Paris Hilton to Dubai - the sheikhs said any amount of money she wants is fine - and next I'm going to take Britney. "Everything Britney does is news - Britney pumps gas, Britney forgets to put milk in her coffee."

Charlize Theron treats her acting career as one big therapy session, to help her deal with demons from her past.
The actress suffered a traumatic youth - when she was 15 years old she witnessed her mother shoot dead her abusive father in self-defence.
Fiction mimics reality in Theron's new movie 'Sleepwalking', in which she plays a mother forced to bring up her daughter alone after her partner abandons her.
But the 32-year-old claims she uses painful film roles to help her heal, stating the dramatic parts act like a session with a psychiatrist.
She explains: "I am incredibly lucky. I get to do a job which is very cathartic. People go to therapy because we are mechanically inclined to not want to deal with emotion or trauma. Anything that's not pretty. That's what we do.
"I get to go to therapy in my work. I go to some very dark places, and I think it's healthy to do that."

The duo – who set up a temporary home in Namibia in 2006 in anticipation of the birth of Shiloh, 21 months – have made an offer on an 850-year-old stone house in Eygalieres, in the country's Provence region, a real estate source tells Us Weekly, in its latest issue, on newsstands now.
Pitt and Jolie – who has taken her baby bump everywhere from Texas to Baghdad – originally looked at the $20 million, fully renovated structure (official name: Mas de la Chapelle St. Sixte) last year, the source tells Us, but lost interest when they learned Pitt, 44, would not be given consent to build a motorbike circuit on the five-acre garden.
"As soon as they found out it was now possible, they jumped at the chance," the source tells Us.
The couple may be eyeing the home as a place to settle after Jolie – whose mother was of French Canadian descent – gives birth to her next baby (she is due in early summer).
Jolie, 32, has had "long conversations" with the American Hospital of Paris about delivering there, a second source tells Us.
"Angelina knows all about our reputation," says the hospital source. "She is certain she'd be happy giving birth here."
