It's a modern world for Carrie Underwood and Chace Crawford. When the two recently split, they did it text style.
Underwood, the former "American Idol" winner, told Extra at the taping of "Idol Gives Back" that it was completely mutual. "We broke up over text so... it's like 'peace out.'"
Underwood said it wasn't a tearful confrontation but rather a realization that the romance wasn't working. Underwood is busy with her music and Crawford is busying on the show "Gossip Girl."
Although the couple hasn't spoken since the texting occurred, Underwood said she has nothing negative to say about her ex. "I don't like him, so it's no big deal."

The 22-year-old actress is planning to plead no contest to a charge of misdemeanor driving under the influence when she's arraigned Thursday in connection with her December bust, a source close to Barton told E! News Monday.
If the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office makes the deal, Barton would avoid jail time, a charge of marijuana possession will be dismissed, and another for driving with an invalid license will be reduced to an infraction.
According to the source, the former O.C. star will get three years of unsupervised probation, attend a three-month alcohol education program and pay a fine.
"That has always been the plan, but we don't know exactly how the deal will go down," the Barton insider said.
A D.A.'s Office spokeswoman declined to comment on the case, but it's expected that prosecutors will sign off on the deal, which is considered a common arrangement for first-time offenders.
Barton was arrested in the early morning hours of Dec. 27 in West Hollywood after officers spotted her SUV straddling two lanes and pulled her over when she failed to signal before making a left turn. She was booked at the nearby sheriff's station and released at 10:10 a.m. the following morning after posting $10,000 bail.

It also saw REM frontman and honorary dinner chair Michael Stipe, model Petra Nemcova, actor Stanley Tucci, chefs Mario Batali and Rachael Ray, Sopranos star Lorraine Bracco, supermodel Christy Turlington and actor Ed Burns on the red carpet.
Dressed in a loose-fitting dress and black heels, Gwyneth, who arrived without husband Chris Martin, gushed: "I feel very honoured and very happy to be honoured by this charity. They do such good work!
"I grew up in this city, and I worked in soup kitchens throughout high school, so being back here is like a full circle. I'm just thrilled to be here and to help in any way I can. As celebrities, we are given so much and we are very blessed. With that comes a real responsibility to give back, share, give money, time and attention to people and causes that need it."
TV's Iron Chef Mario Batali, who has been filming a TV show with Gwyneth, joked: "We totally use the celebrities to try and gain recognition for our noble cause. Gwyneth's an old friend of mine."
