Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry are reportedly engaged.
He is said to have proposed to the 'X-Men' actress, and given her a ring which first belonged to his grandmother.
A source close the couple revealed: "Gabriel felt the time was right to propose. He gave her the family heirloom because he wanted to show her how much she means to him, and how she will be accepted into the Aubry family.
"The ring belonged to Gabriel's grandmother - it was her engagement ring."
The actress and boyfriend Gabriel Aubry welcomed their baby girl, Nahla Ariela, in March and it appeared that the Oscar-winner was ready to solidify their commitment even further when she flashed her new sparkler at the EIFN Revlon Run/Walk in L.A. on Saturday.
However, insiders insist that the ring was a present to herself.
"It's not an engagement ring," a source close to the star tells People.
"Halle just saw it and thought it was beautiful so she bought it for herself."

It appears Kelly Brook, 28 and her ex-fiance Billy Zane, 42 may just be reuniting after breaking off their engagement last month.
Kelly was spotted out and about in London, walking hand in hand with Billy through trendy Notting Hill. After their walk, the two enjoyed drinks on a rooftop terrace.
Now they have been seen dining out together in London. Kelly reportedly cut short a holiday with her girly friends to fly from Cornwall to London, and Billy flew in from a film set in South Africa, so they could meet up.
Sources claim Kelly and Billy dined at a Thai restaurant, and then spent the night at a hotel in West London.
A diner at the restaurant said, “Kelly was giggling and looked very happy. She kept touching his arm.”
Sporting a cute blonde wig, Miley Cyrus was spotted exiting her trailer and heading over to the set of The Hannah Montana Movie in Nashville.
She looks like a lovely cute doll upon wearing a blonde wig.
Jodie Foster has reportedly split from girlfriend Cydney Bernard.
The couple are believed to have been together for around 14 years and Bernard has adopted Foster's children Charles, nine, and six-year old Kit.
The news comes six months after the actress went public with the romance for the first time by paying tribute to her "beautiful Cydney" during a speech in LA. She had previously resisted pressure from gay rights groups to talk about the relationship.
A source told the National Enquirer: "Jodie breaking up with Cydney is shocking. Right now it's the best kept secret in Hollywood, and it's not just because Jodie is legend and an intensely private person, either.
"She and Cydney have been together for so many years and have two children together, [so] the potential fallout and legal wrangling from this split could be monumental."
The pair hooked up on the set of Foster’s 1993 film Sommersby, on which Bernard was a production coordinator.

They are reporting that yesterday, one of Carey’s assistants called L.A.’s chic baby boutique Petit Tresor to talk about preparing for a little roommate.
Mariah’s office asked if the store could send fabric samples and if its designers could work with the theme of butterflies! (Only Mariah’s favorite thing inthe world) Word is the Petit crew is sending pictures of the nursery they just finished for Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s twins.
Although Mariah’s manager, Benny Medina is saying Mariah is not pregnant. (They always say that, don’t they?!)
Three weeks ago, Carey told OK! magazine that she was in no hurry to start a family “because of childhood traumatic stuff.” But since walking down the aisle with Cannon, she said having children is “part of the whole purpose of getting married.”
A friend of the couple says Carey had said she was working on a concept to make Cannon’s L.A. home more comfy for a lady with a whole lot of shoes and dresses. But apparently, she’s also thinking about cribs and changing tables. Her assistant asked if Petit Tresor could shut the store for a private conference next time she’s in L.A.

The 'Crazy In Love' singer - who married rapper Jay-Z in a secret ceremony last month - has reportedly been indulging in all her favourite calorific goodies since discovering she is expecting her first child.
A pal told the New York Post newspaper: "She has gained a lot of pregnancy weight. When she gains weight, she normally does the Def Jam detox, but not now."
Beyonce further fuelled speculation she is pregnant after she was spotted in New York this week sporting what appeared to be a baby bump.
A source close to the couple said: "I've heard from at least two people that Beyonce is pregnant."

In a declaration made to the court, Heche said that her business manager had informed her that she only had $34,840.93 in "all of her accounts" and that if she continued her support payments of $14,798 per month, she would "have a deficit of more than $6,000 by May 31, 2008." She also wrote that she has $364,000 of legal, accounting and other personal debt.
The court agreed to let Heche skip her July 1 payment to her ex and son, pending another hearing on July 2.
Heche's ABC show, "Men in Trees," on which she met current boyfriend JAMES TUPPER, was not picked up for a third season. The actress noted in the papers that since January 18, 2008, she'd "been unemployed and had no income from employment except for one very short term contract for a movie role for which [she] received a total of $65,000."

The 'Beowulf' star was forced to reveal her maternal secret when her 'Kung Fu Panda' co-star Jack Black let the news slip during an interview at the Cannes Film Festival.
Jack joked to the 'Beowulf' star: "You're gonna have as many as the Brady Bunch when you have these."
Angelina was then asked if it was true she was having a multiple birth, to which she replied: "Yeah, yeah, we've confirmed that already. Well, Jack's just confirmed it actually. We're out. We're fine.
"I'm very happy. Unlike most women, I love being pregnant... You just feel like everything about your body is there for your baby."
Angelina is still determined to keep the sex of the twins private, but suggested she may give birth in France.
