But in a "jet-lagged" interview with the New York Times, Angelina Jolie said she and Pitt fell in love on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith in 2004 - long before Pitt's break-up and divorce with then-wife Aniston.
The revelation came during discussions about how Jolie couldn't wait for her and Pitt's six children - three adopted, three naturally conceived - to see the film in which their parents fell in love.
She said: "It will be great when they can watch Mr and Mrs Smith, because not a lot of people get to see a movie where their parents fell in love."
"What's going to be funny is when they think mum and dad are a little bit cool. Because right now, we're not cool mum and dad."
