Maybe all that adventuring on the high seas in the Pirates Of The Caribbean sequels influenced the British actress, as she secretly rented a floating home with her actor boyfriend Rupert Friend on a waterway in London's East End.
The couple have kept a low-profile existence on the small boat since the start of this year, and, according to neighbors, have fully embraced life on the water.
"They've hired the boat until the summer and they seem really happy," a nearby resident said.
"They spend most weekends on it, brewing up pots of tea. They're a very sweet couple.
"They like nothing better than strolling along the canal hand in hand and going to the chippie (fish and chips restaurant) for a fish supper."
Keira Knightley, 24, is currently starring in stage play The Misanthrope at London's Comedy Theatre while her partner Friend is also treading the boards at the capital's Garrick Theatre.
A source said: "It's rare that Rupert and Keira get to spend an extended period of time together so they're over the moon that they're both working in London at the moment.
"They regard their houseboat as their sanctuary."
However, it is unlikely that they will remain in the idyllic hideout for much longer, as Knightley is due to travel to the United States in February to promote her latest film, Last Night.
