The film revolves around a crass seventh-grade teacher, played by Diaz, who after being dumped by her boyfriend, sets her sights on a substitute teacher, who will be played by Timberlake.
Reports say the ex-boy band member won the role against other acting heavyweights including John Krasinski and Joel McHale. Jason Segel has also signed on for a supporting role.
Timberlake and Diaz dated for several years before calling it quits in 2007.
