Rhys Ifans is The Lizard in New Spider-Man


Rhys Ifans, who played Hugh Grant’s bumbling housemate in Notting Hill (yes, we saw it), has been tapped to portray the villain Lizard in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot film. Known as Dr. Curt Connors in human form, The Lizard first appeared in the graphic novel universe back in 1963.

Slashfilm is reporting that Ifans will portray the scientist, who after losing an arm, attempts to genetically regenerates it. The unsuccessful attempts turns him into a reptillian monster known as The Lizard.

The upcoming Spider-Man reboot will star Andrew Garfield as the title character alongside Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. The film is set for release July 3, 2012.
