Despite reports over the weekend, Jolie will not act in the film. According to GK Films' press release, the untitled film's cast will be comprised solely of "various ethnicities of the former Yugoslavia."
The Oscar-winning star and mother of six will also serve as producer on the film, which she described as "a love story, not a political statement," in a statement issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), for which she's goodwill ambassador. "I would like to involve as many local people as possible and learn as much as I can."

Angelina Jolie is promoting her new action adventure film, "Salt", in Japan. And she really pulled out the big guns -- fashionwise -- for her Eastern trek.
Her black gown showed off her beautiful back tiger tattoo and seen from the front, it also revealed about a mile of taut, toned thigh. By the looks of it, the slit in this gown wasn't just thigh high, it was more like crotch-high.
Angelina Jolie may be joining the social network. But don't get too excited because she's not Tweeting...yet. The account is locked and she has no followers and isn't following anyone. Angelina has taken control of the @AngelinaJolie name/page on Twitter.
“Jolie had her people obtain the account for her so no one else could have that username,” UsMagazine.com quoted a source as saying.
“There was actually someone else using @AngelinaJolie but Angelina requested the account suspended and took it over.”
The insider adds that the ‘Salt’ star, 35, might become active on the microblogging site “later this year.”
“If she uses it, it will be for charity-related items or sharing links,” the source added.

Jolie is one of the very few actresses who opens action movies, and her latest, "Salt," opens the Friday during the Con, which runs from Wednesday, July 21, to Sunday, July 25.
Columbia, which is releasing "Salt," will be showing off its wares on Thursday and Friday, and "Salt" is being staged after the "Battle: Los Angeles" presentation Thursday.

Angelina Jolie just got a hot, new tattoo on her inner thigh!
The 35 year old actress showed off her new tattoo on her inner thigh in the August issue of Vanity Fair. Jolie revealed the tat by posing in black, short shorts for the magazine spread.
This is the second new tattoo in a week for Angelina. She was spotted with some new swirls on her arm at the Mexican premiere of "Salt."
Angelina Jolie has added yet another tattoo to her highly inked body.
Her latest imprint resembles little more than a decorative swirl, but the motif was clearly visible on the inside of her left arm.
It's positioned next to her elbow, alongside a tattoo of the Roman numeral 13.
The actress flashed her latest ink as she waved to fans during the launch of her new movie Salt, while she was in Cancun, Mexico.
