Carrie Underwood spent yesterday afternoon getting a little dirty for the 18th annual City of Hope Celebrity Softball Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee.
Each year the game raises money for City of Hope, a leading research and treatment institution for cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
About playing baseball, Carrie joked: “I’ve got a lot of practice with a bat one way or another the last couple years.”

Carrie Underwood performed her latest single “Last Name” at the American Idol Finale.
She looked really elegant (I’m not particularly crazy about the sleeve thing on her dress but what do I know?).
Results have been released from an AOL Television poll that show that the most popular American Idol contestant to date is country singer Carrie Underwood.
The poll was conducted from May 9 to the 16 and received more than 1 million votes.
Carrie Underwood was the winner back in 2005 and since winning the show has gone on to stardom in the country music world, winning a Grammy, American Music, Billboard and Country Music Association awards.
The poll released today finds that this seasons most over rated contestant on the show is none other than Jason Castro, who was recently voted off the show.
The poll finds the remaining contestants, David Archuleta, 17, and David Cook, 25, neck and neck when it comes to who fans think will win this years show.
35 percent of fans thought that David Archuleta’s version of John Lennon’s “Imagine” was the overall best performance this year, a number that was tied by Cooks version of Michael Jackson’s hit “Billie Jean.”

Carrie Underwood, who has been linked to such famous men as football star Tony Romo and Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford, says she's experienced heartbreak at the hands of an unfaithful boyfriend – but remains mum on the culprit.
"I've been cheated on a time or two. It's tough," she tells InStyle in the May issue, on newsstands Friday. "I wouldn't recommend doing any property damage, though," she laughs, a reference to her Grammy-winning song "Before He Cheats" about a woman who trashes her boyfriend's truck.
"Now I'm to the point where you get one shot. Life's too short," adds the Season 4 American Idol champ, who says that dessert is one way she heals from heartache.
"I'm a 'let it go, move on' kind of person. And ice cream is my friend. If anybody sees me eating a sundae and I look unhappy, something bad has happened," Underwood tells the magazine. "I am drowning my sorrows in fudge and caramel and whipped cream."
The singer also admits that she struggles with body image."I think about what I look like probably more than I should. But I think everybody is her own worst critic," she says. "Some days I step out of the shower, put my lotion on, and I'll be like 'Ugh, ew, ew.' "
She rarely goes out without makeup and keeps a food diary: "I'm OCD like that," Underwood admits. "I count calories, fat and fiber – which is important in making you feel fuller faster – and protein, especially when I'm working out."
Why is she so strict with herself? "If I put on five pounds, it's noticed immediately," says Underwood.
Still, she says, "I'm content with 90 percent of me. I like my teeth. Sometimes I wonder if my orthodontist realizes how important he was."

Carrie Underwood went very casual for her in a short, 80's inspired one-shouldered dress. Love her silver shoes and that she has the gams to pull off such high ankle straps.
It's a modern world for Carrie Underwood and Chace Crawford. When the two recently split, they did it text style.
Underwood, the former "American Idol" winner, told Extra at the taping of "Idol Gives Back" that it was completely mutual. "We broke up over text so... it's like 'peace out.'"
Underwood said it wasn't a tearful confrontation but rather a realization that the romance wasn't working. Underwood is busy with her music and Crawford is busying on the show "Gossip Girl."
Although the couple hasn't spoken since the texting occurred, Underwood said she has nothing negative to say about her ex. "I don't like him, so it's no big deal."

Jessica Simpson is not the best singer in Tony Romo's ears. Reports say the footballer had compared his current girlfriend's singing ability to his ex Carrie Underwood's, and he even told her to her face what he thinks.
"[Tony] really hurt Jess' feelings," a source tells OK! magazine. "She tried to laugh it off in Hawaii, but she pouted whenever she heard Carrie's songs playing."
Not only that, Romo apparently isn't very supportive of Simpson's move to switch from pop to country. He thinks that she would have trouble gaining audience.
"Tony said he thought Jess would have trouble winning over audiences with her upcoming country CD," the source adds.
And it's not only her beau that has doubts about Simpson's country venture. Rascal Flatts lead Gary LeVox also doesn't think highly of the move.
"It is tough to be a pop artist and them make country records. Country fans get it. They go, 'You're not country - you're a pop artist.' The fans make you or break you."
Romo remains friends with Underwood, who was an American Idol champion and a country singer, despite breaking up in 2007.

Carrie Underwood, introduced by the night's first performer and winner, Alicia Keys (for best female R&B vocal performance), popped up out of the Grammy stage to perform "Before He Cheats" in sexy black shorts and thigh high black boots. It was a surprising – and super sexy – contrast to the floral Zuhair Murad dress she wore on the red carpet.
Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" was named best female country vocal performance. "Before He Cheats," written by Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins, was also named best country song.
