Her forlorn attempts to mime the words reminded me irresistibly of poor old John Redwood, as Welsh Secretary, trying and failing to make it look like he knew the words to the Welsh National Anthem.
Martin also sang his anthem Fix You which he wrote about his wife's bereavement following the death of her father Bruce from cancer.
She has said: "It's so hard for me to listen to some of those songs. I'm amazed he stuck with me, because I was a wreck. I can't believe that he did."
The song still maintains its emotion for the couple and when Martin sang the lyrics on Wednesday night his wife raised her hands in the air and closed her eyes.

The rumors were sparked after she attended a New York screening of her new movie Two Lovers on February 11, wearing a red string bracelet on her wrist.
Kabbalah texts cite that the bracelets protect wearers from negative forces and the "Evil Eye," reports Contactmusic.

The actress has signed a deal with publishing company Janklow and Nesbit to produce a collection of family-focused recipes emphasizing the importance of togetherness at meal times.
Paltrow has dedicated the work to her late dad, titling the book "My Father's Daughter."
And the 36-year-old admits the tribute comes because Bruce Paltrow, who died in 2002 following a battle with cancer, inspired her love of good cuisine.
She says, "My dad was a famous pancake maker and I'm working on (adapting his) recipe right now. I'm making mine slightly healthier."

The actress admits she turned into a "wreck" following the death of Bruce Paltrow from throat cancer related complications in 2002.
But she reveals she was pulled through her dark depression by the "real heart" of the Coldplay star.
"I'm amazed he stuck with me, because I was a wreck. I can't believe that he did", Paltrow, confessed after admitting this week she misses her therapist in the US.
The Iron Man star, 36, maintains it was Martin's "kindness and a generosity of spirit and a willingness to understand other people", that pulled her through her mourning.
To this day she still struggles to listen to some of the star's hits which Martin penned for her during her trauma, telling: "It's so hard for me to listen to some of those songs. I can't listen to 'Swallowed In The Sea' without crying."

The actress admits she has gained a little "holiday excess" and now is keen to lose it, but she refuses to have a crack at the infamous Master Cleanse fast, which she tried a year ago.
She says, "I like to do fasts and detoxes a couple of times during the year, the most hardcore one being the Master Cleanse I did last spring. It was not what you would characterize as pretty. Or easy."
So now Paltrow has signed up a detox diet specialist to help her shed the pounds.
In a blog on Goop.com, she writes, "As I do not wish to subsist on lemon water in the middle of winter, I asked my doctor, a detox diet specialist, for the guidelines he uses to achieve a good detox that is not as hallucinogenic (in a bad way) as the Master Cleanse.
"What it came down to was this: you can detox easily and effectively while you continue to eat as long as you are cutting out the foods and other substances that interfere with the detoxification process."
She admits her New Year diet consists mainly of salads, fruit smoothies, chicken, soups and lots of water.

A) they are never photographed together and
B) Madonna's marriage ended and she's pals with Paltrow.
Gwynnie's mom, Blythe Danner, tells Fox 411's Roger Friedman: "They don't take pictures together if they can avoid it. It's a strategy. They don't want the pandemonium." (Think Brangelina.) And she says the two are doing just fine. "They're staying in England for the new year. Then coming here."
Roger says maybe they'll be photographed together at the Grammy awards on Feb. 8 - Coldplay is nominated for numerous awards - but Danner didn't confirm that.

As for Madonna, friends close to Paltrow are concerned about the influence the newly-single pop star seems to be exerting over her buddy Gwyneth. "It's eerie. Gwyneth acts normally until Madonna comes around, and then Gwyn is all about Madonna, all the time."
However, the couple have been spending lots of one-on-one time in their home in London "trying to make their marriage better," a source tells the New York Daily News. This means they've been engaging in more family-based outings like the one pictured here, where the Coldplay singer and his daughter Apple Martin visit the Winter Wonderland Park.

PETA's senior vice president, Dan Mathews, chatted with the actress at the Fontainebleau Hotel opening in Miami over the weekend. In August, the group released a statement that said: "Gwyneth Paltrow won't be the apple of her daughter's eye if she continues to flaunt fur."
ccording to Mathews, Paltrow graciously said: "That was awkward, and I'm glad you asked, because I do not wear fur at all.
"It was a daylong photo shoot on a boat near Capri, and there were all sorts of poses with all kinds of clothes - none with fur," she added. "During one set-up, a stylist came up from behind and draped a stole around my shoulder.
She continued: "I didn't pay much attention to it, and when I noticed it was fur, I assumed it was fake fur, but did not ask, so it's my fault. I was very surprised when they ended up using that one shot out of hundreds for the centerpiece of the Tod's ads.
"I know it's not a great excuse, but I hope you and your members understand."

Gwyneth Paltrow left little to the imagination when she attended the French premiere of her latest film, in which she does reveal one of her breasts.
For the 36-year-old Paltrow, who is married to Coldplay's singer/songwriter Chris Martin, the movie, Two Lovers, is her first film since she had their children Apple, now four, and Moses, two.

In Italy for Milan Fashion Week, Gwyneth Paltrow wowed first in a vivid orange ruffled and pleated dress, which she wore for a visit to Tod’s concept store with designer Diego Dello Valle. She paired the vibrant, zesty frock with peep-toed, patent shoe-boots and a patent black bag.
After dark, Gwyneth changed into a silk shift minidress, in a softer shade of orange, for the screening of Pashmy Dream and a private dinner at Tod’s.
