Hugh Jackman is set to return as the Marvel Comics character, a mutant with healing powers and a skeleton laced with the indestructible metal known as adamantium. Jackman is also producing via his Fox-based Seed shingle along with Lauren Shuler Donner.
The movie's story line will take its cue from the early 1980s Chris Claremont/Frank Miller miniseries, which is set in Japan and features Wolverine dealing with ninjas as he struggles whether to follow his animal killer instincts or the life under a samurai's code of honor and respect.

The actors will star in "A Steady Rain," a play about two Chicago cops whose friendship is tested by a domestic dispute they encounter in a poor neighborhood, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Of course, this is hardly Jackman's first time on the Great White Way - he won a Tony in 2004 for "The Boy From Oz." It will be James Bond’s alter ego's Broadway debut.

The Mexico City screening of X-Men Origins: Wolverine on Wednesday was cancelled because of an outbreak of swine flu in the capital.
All tourists are being advised to stay away, and studio bosses refused to risk Jackman's health by flying him in.
But the Aussie star has vowed to return as soon as it's safe to.
He tells Usmagazine.com, "I'm a movie fan, I love movies, but they're just movies at the end of the day -- and there are other things that are way more important, such as people's safety.
"It's very tragic what's going on down there...I'm worried for them.
"The government and local officials closed (the premiere down) because they're obviously closing theaters.
"As soon as they open it up and as soon as it's safe for people to go out and see movies again, we'll go back down there."

Here is the trailer for the upcoming X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE movie where Hugh Jackman reprises his role from the X-MEN trilogy in a spin-off film that goes into the character’s origins.

"George Clooney rang me at two in the morning," Hugh Jackman told People Monday at the "Australia" premiere in New York City.
"I was half asleep and I said to him, 'Ah, George sweetie, good to hear from you.' He goes, 'Shut up, Jackman!'" the Aussie actor recounted with a laugh.
But George apparently was not going to let Hugh off the hook before having a little fun with him.
"[He said,] 'I know what you did! You started this big campaign that's been going on and [you] took the title away from me,'" Hugh continued.
"I thought that was unnecessary," Hugh reportedly deadpanned.

Hugh definitely earned his title, and at 6ft. 2in, he is known for his hard body. But what you may not know about the star is that he has a softer side.
According to People, he sings ballads at home, makes pancakes for son Oscar, 8, daughter Ava, 3, as well as his wife Deb.
"Deb and my kids have been the best things that have ever happened to me, without a doubt," he told People.
So what were his wife's thoughts on the coveted "Sexiest" title?
"Obviously, Brad wasn't available this year," she said.
