Fake tan has become a beauty staple among Hollywood actresses keen to adopt the bronzed look over recent years.
But one person staying away from the tan is Kirsten Dunst, who clearly prefers being pale and interesting.
The Melancholia actress displayed her milky white skin as she donned a black bikini for a day on the beach in Hawaii last week.
However, Kirsten looked confident with her pale complexion as she spent time with a male friend on the white sands of the beach.
Kirsten relaxed with a bottle of beer and a cigarette as she made the most of some time off from her busy schedule.

With Kirsten Dunst's movie career back in full swing thanks to her dazzling turn in Melancholia this year, the actress needed a little relaxation in the form of some poolside bikini time in Las Vegas.
Dunst and some friends were spotted enjoying some time by the pool, with Kirsten rocking a black two-piece bikini as she walked around.

Kirsten Dunst has reportedly started drinking again after a battle to remain sober.
The 27-year-old actress, who was recently confirmed to star in the fourth instalment of Spider-Man, has been thought to be alcohol-free since spending time in rehab last year. However, Dunst was reportedly spotted at a Los Angeles bar on August 18.
A source told the National Enquirer: "She told a companion to order her a double vodka on the rocks... he held her by the arm to keep her stable.
"Even though she was wasted, she looked like she was trying to hide her drink in her jacket as she walked toward a couch. But minutes after she sat down, Kirsten gulped her drink."
A spokesperson for Dunst has not yet responded to the claims made against the actress.

Director McG recently took a crack at the Terminator franchise with this year's Terminator Salvation, but he got his start in the biz as a director of music videos.
McG has returned to directing music videos and was recently seen filming in Tokyo's Akihabara Otaku district with Spider-Man's Kirsten Dunst dressed up like a character from Sailor Moon, an anime series that McG has gone on the record as saying he enjoys.
A source said: "Kirsten is absolutely infatuated with him and thinks he would be the ideal boyfriend. [She's] been sending Rob a barrage of flirty texts, letting him know she is very interested in getting to know him better - whenever and wherever he wants."
