I just got word that the former Dancing With the Stars beauty has nabbed the female lead in director Adam Shankman's movie adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Rock of Ages...
Describing Hough's audition as "jaw-droppingly good," Shankman said, "She came in and when she left everybody stood around looking at each other with chills and said, 'We found our girl.'" I was the first to tell you last month that Hough was on the top of Shankman's list of possibilities.
Hough will play Sherri Christian, a girl from the Midwest who moves to Hollywood with dreams of becoming an actress.
Tom Cruise has already signed on to play musician Stacee Jaxx.

Joined by co-star Cameron Cruise, big screen hunk Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes dazzled as they attended the Knight and Day world premiere at the Lope de Vega theatre in Seville, Spain on Wednesday (June 16).
“Always put me in a beautiful city in Europe and let me do 180s all day,” said Cameron on the red carpet of her earlier stunt driving earlier in the day, adding, “We had so much fun making this movie. … We made this movie so that the audience could have a great time.”
Added Tom: “It’s just a bright, fun summer movie. It has everything. It has action, romance and comedy and it’s just a lot of fun.”
Why premiere the film in Seville? “It’s just beautiful country and a beautiful city,” explained Tom. “This movie is a wish fulfillment and you need that journey. I love those kinds of films where you just want to go to those [locations and] be with [the natives], and that’s why we’re here.”

The actress serenaded Tom during a flirty performance of show tune What Lola Wants, Lola Gets at the Fine Romance Benefit for The Motion Picture and Television Fund in Los Angeles on Saturday.
And Tom even showed off a few moves himself, but unlike in the film Risky Business, this time he had all his clothes on.
Tom Cruise will produce and star in “Mission: Impossible IV,” Paramount Studios confirmed on Tuesday.
Joining Cruise as producer will be J.J. Abrams, who also helmed the third installment in the Cruise super-spy franchise.
Both Cruise and Abrams are working together to find a director for the film, which will be released on Memorial Day weekend 2011. The film will go up against Warner Bros.’ “The Hangover 2,” also slated for that weekend.
Cruise first stepped into the “Impossible” shoes of secret agent Ethan Hunt for the original “Mission: Impossible” film in 1996. He reprised the role four years later in the second chapter, directed by John Woo.
The “Mission: Impossible” franchise has grossed more than $1.4 billion globally.

The star, thought to be around 5ft 7in, topped the poll of 2000 women by www.onepoll.com.
He was just higher than Richard Hammond. The Top Gear host came in second.
Other Brits on the vertically challenged list include 5ft 4in jazz musician Jamie Cullum who was third, F1 ace Lewis Hamilton was at number four, just ahead of Take That's Mark Owen who came in fifth.
A spokesperson for Onepoll said: "It proves you don't have to be 6ft to be sexy. These guys are regularly seen with stunning girls, which gives everyone struggling on the height side a bit of hope."

The actor celebrated his 47th birthday in Australia last weekend with Katie Holmes and Suri.
On July 3 (his actual birthday), he caught an AFL match with his family from a private box in Melbourne.
On Sunday, the fun continued when they headed to the Princess Theater to see Jersey Boys.
TomKat also took Suri to the aquarium and zoo.
The family will be spending even more time in Melbourne when Katie starts shooting her next movie there, so this must be the birthday preview. Happy 47, Tom.

The three previous "Mission: Impossible" films have taken more than 1.4 billion dollars worldwide since the first picture was released in 1996.
However a fourth film starring Cruise was deemed unlikely after the actor ended a 14-year association with Paramount in 2006.
The split generated worldwide headlines after Sumner Redstone, the chief of Paramount's parent company Viacom, criticized Cruise, saying his "unacceptable" behavior had contributed to the company's decision.
However Redstone opened the door to a reunion last month when he said he would not be opposed to Cruise returning for a new "Mission: Impossible" film.
"I consider Tom Cruise a great actor and a good friend," Redstone told Variety. "And if Paramount decides to move ahead with him, I will not object."

Tom Cruise is said to have been furious after discovering Katie Holmes had taken up the deadly habit again and is now trying to force her into giving up cigarettes.

"He is livid she's started smoking again and is doing everything he can to put pressure on her to quit what he calls a filthy habit."
