Winona Ryder looks amazing in her spread for January’s issue of Elle. And maybe that’s because she got some serious help from photographer Horst Diekgerdes and Elle’s style director Kate Lanphear to create the images for “Girl, Resurrected,” a few photos from which you’ll find below.

The 39-year-old actress admits one of her biggest fashion mistakes came when she refused to wear underwear underneath the lace dress she wore in Reality Bites because she finds the garments too restrictive.
Winona Ryder said: "I made the huge mistake of not wearing a bra. When we were trying it on I wasn't moving around.
"I was young and bras give me backache, you know? The first thing I do when I get home is take off my bra - but I did sort of regret it because I didn't realise how it was going to look."
Though Ryder hates wearing bras, she was happy to don a tight-fitting corset for her role in The Age of Innocence as it put her in the right frame of mind for the film.
She explained to Total Film magazine: "The corsets are a tremendous help to the performance, because you're playing a repressed person and you can feel the pain they endured.
"My waist had to be 19 inches and they had to measure me every day. I would be on the floor and they would pull the strings until it was 19 inches.
"But if I did it again I would want it the same way because it made me performance."

The 38-year-old actress Winona Ryder showed off a new fuller figure, in a tight, low cut black dress as she stepped out on the red carpet at the Toronto Film Festival.
The actress was promoting her forthcoming dramatic thriller Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman.
Winona Ryder’s long and winding life of drama (long before the shoplifting fun in 2001) included an “extra-large breakdown” when she was 20.
The actress, 37, said she had difficulty coping when she launched to Hollywood’s A-list after hits like “Edward Scissorhands” and “Dracula.”
“I had just done ‘Dracula’ and ‘Edward Scissorhands’. I had just had my first real break-up, the first heartbreak. And I think it was really ironic because everybody else thought I had everything in the world. I had no reason to be depressed, everything was sort of at its peak, but inside I was completely lost. I remember feeling, ‘I can’t complain about anything, because I’m so lucky, I’m so lucky’ After that I realised I needed to take time off more regularly,” said Ryder.
Her trouble in life included being teased at school because she looked like a “gay boy.”
She told Elle magazine: “We only shopped at the Salvation Army, and I would get these three-piece, 1970s little boy suits. I had really short hair and the third day of seventh grade these kids basically jumped me in the hall because they thought I was a gay boy, and they roughed me up. I think when that happened, I kind of went into a movie in my head because I couldn’t deal with what was happening.’”

Winona Ryder bounced back and looked beautiful at the Marie Claire Prix de la Moda 2008 Awards.
The “Reality Bites” actress was glowing as she arrived at the Residencia De Francia in Madrid, Spain, sporting a muted pink one-shoulder dress and her trademark cute and cropped hairdo.
And though she may have appeared poised as she accepted an award at the ceremony, the day before, Miss Ryder was rushed to the hospital after collapsing on a plane in London.

Mara Buxbaum said the 37-year-old was taken to a west London hospital Wednesday "as a precaution" and had since been released.
"She's fine now," Buxbaum said. She declined to go into details of Ryder's illness.
British Airways said a flight from Los Angeles to Heathrow requested priority landing after a female passenger "required medical attention" and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
"Our cabin crew looked after the female passenger as much as they could onboard and our passenger services staff also accompanied her to the local hospital," the statement said. "We wish her well."

Last night was the LA premiere of last Sean Penn movie, ‘Milk’. The film is generating plenty of Oscar buzz, but director Gus Van Sant was reluctant to talk of possible Academy Award nominations.
Winona Ryder was one of the celebrities who attended the premiere.
A source tells the National Enquirer that the two were cuddling at a bar in Hollywood last week, and friends say their romance is blossoming. Sick! How is it possible to get romantic with Tom Green! Hopefully this is just a rebound for Winona.
She just split up with Blake Sennett a couple weeks ago, and that's definitely not enough down time!
After Johnny Depp, it was all downhill for Winona. Such a shame.

According to Star Magazine the pair have been spending lots of time in each other’s trailers; and have gotten so close that during a break in filming in Connecticut, Winona relaxed with Keanu at his Manhattan pad.
"They are also always hugging on the set," says a source. "The chemistry is really electric."
