In an evening of few surprises, the Kaiser Chiefs bagged a hat-trick of awards, winning Best Group, British Live Act and British Rock Act.
Picking up their first award, the band were joined on stage by an unknown member of the audience who was soon escorted off. Singer Ricky Wilson said: “this is our first Brits. We weren’t supposed to win this one. This means the world.”

In the last of the evening’s rare moments of controversy the Kaiser Chiefs said they were against a proposed second runway at Stansted: “that’s very important, don’t edit it out”
