£12,500 - on a lift to his grandfather's birthday party.

The soccer ace is so determined to be on time for Joseph West's 80th birthday bash, he has hired a private jet to whisk him to the UK after he plays for Real Madrid in Spain next week.

The star - who is married to former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham - is known for his expensive tastes.

Last month, it was claimed he spends a staggering £1,000 a month on underwear.

David is said to splash out hundreds of pounds on designer underwear, including lavish designs by Calvin Klein, every fortnight because he never wears the same pair twice.
