Natalie Portman hugged chimpanzee 'Sable' backstage last night. She embraced the monkey during the final banquet and awards ceremony for ShoWest 2006 held at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel. Portman, 24, was named "Female Star of the Year" by ShoWest, the official convention of the National Association of Theatre Owners. Chimpanzee 'Sable' starred in the short film "The Real Monkey", which was honored with the 2006 Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker award.
