"American V: A Hundred Highways" was his first # 1 album. It sold about 88,000 records just in the first week.

Also, Cash recorded a collection of songs just before his death in 2003, knocking the Dixie Chicks from the #1 slot on the Country charts for seven consecutive weeks.
