Federal prosecutors say Nelson Mercado told Sunset Protective Services and Investigations he was a special agent with Homeland Security who worked on his own time for famous athletes and entertainers. Reported WLBZ2 News.
He tried to apply for the bodyguard position but failed.
Mercado even registered a fake cop car with "U.S. Department of Homeland Security of America". Mercado is being held without bail; if he's convicted, he'll face up to three years in prison.
