"I feel stronger every day," Douglas, 66, tells PEOPLE exclusively, "But it's a long road back."
Douglas spent the Thanksgiving holiday in Orlando visiting Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando with wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, 41, and kids, Dylan, 10, and Carys, 7. A source close to the couple says of Douglas's cancer battle: "These things can either tear families apart or make them stronger. This has definitely made them even stronger."
