The Scream star said he had read tabloid reports claiming his wife was cheating on him – and believed them.
"I thought she was having an affair with someone. Nobody would have said something like that if she weren't," he told US talk show host Oprah Winfrey.
"That made me angry and think 'I'll show you'. My way of doing that was getting really self-destructive and suicidal in a way."
